Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop 16 — festive celebrations

img_3666If your home is like mine, it is turning into Christmas central! Having just bought our home, funds are a bit tight, but spirits are high and we’re all enjoying seeing the lights go up in our neighbors’ yards. My daughter will be SEVEN tomorrow, so this is always a special time of year for her!

So, keeping the Christmas spirit in mind, our GSF group decided that the theme for this month’s blog hop should be Festive Celebrations. I decided to use a few of the Christmas cards I’ve made for friends and family, and a couple for a swap group I’m in for this month’s hop. I’ve had so much fun creating these over the past month!

First, we have the card I created in bulk, to go out to friends and family. I used Old Olive for the base, a retired DSP that I have way too much of for my first layer, and the Ready for Christmas stamp set on a Whisper White 2nd layer. This stamp set looks like a coloring book scene at first, so I stamped with Basic Black archival ink and then used Stampin’ Write markers to color it in. The sentiment is cut out with the Layering Ovals framelits in Real Red and Whisper White. A little sheer Old Olive bow tops it off!

Of course it’s pictured with my Hedwig mug I got for my birthday. Lol

Next up, is this adorable Ho! Ho! Ho! card I made for a swap group I’m in. I used Crumb Cake and Whisper White for layering. The “DSP” was created by repeatedly stamping “ho ho ho” from the (retired) Get Your Santa On stamp set in VersaMark. Then Santa is placed on top. He was made using the Santa Suit stamps and coordinating Santa Builder framelits.

And finally, because right after Christmas, we celebrate NYE, I’ve got this gorgeous New Years eclipse card using Smoky Slate, Basic Black, silver glitter paper, and the Number of Years stamp set and framelits. That striped background is actually from a Paper Pumpkin kit, then colored with Wink of Stella to make the stripes shimmer.

I hope this holiday season finds you happy and healthy, and that no matter how you celebrate, you get to spend it with those you love the most! Thanks for looking, please feel free to leave a comment, and as always, happy stamping!
