Mixing the old with the new

Happy Sunday! It has been a while since I’ve had a chance to sit down and do much of anything. I mentioned in my last post that I’d been helping a sick friend. That friend, sadly, lost her battle on the 22nd. So there’s been a good bit of mourning, and not much motivation to do anything crafty. She was my crafty partner in crime, so I’ve been just staring at this big box of stuff that I ordered before she passed.

Hard to imagine not diving right in, right? It took me 3 days to unpack it. And I’ve been staring at it on my dining room table for another 3. *sigh* Today, I WILL do something with it. (Right after I put in a couple of hours on the work laptop I brought home. End of the month, and all that!)

Yesterday while I was going through some older sets I want to sell, to make room for all the new swag, I came across a retired set that I’m going to hang on to. I realized that it will coordinate wonderfully with the new Blooms & Bliss DSP. So, I thought I’d showcase that here, to show that you can mix the old with the new.

I can’t remember the name of the set, but I’ve asked around and will let anyone who is interested know.

Be on the lookout for a future post from me of some card ideas incorporating these 2 items!

Happy stamping!

August class!

I just shared a sneak peek of my August class on Instagram. Can’t wait to start playing around with this awesome set!

This set just makes me happy. Perfect for Thinking of You or Get Well cards. Who doesn’t love a bit of cheer when they’re feeling blue?

Class will cost $10. This will cover the cost of the paper used to create the card(s). I’ll supply the stamp set, ink, and adhesive. I’ll also provide snacks. Fun & food. What’s not to love???

Here’s a preview of what we’ll create:

Happy wedding to my “baby” cousin!

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted. Things have been a bit crazy. Work, kids, and a sick friend have occupied most of my time. I did, however, sneak in some time to create a card for my “baby” cousin and his fiancé. I haven’t posted a picture, because I was waiting to give it to her at her shower. I had a lot of fun with this one. Not a typical style for me, but I’m really happy with how it turned out!

I didn’t have a sentiment I liked, or that was big enough for the space, so I used Night of Navy and my all time favorite Wink of Stella to hand write the CONGRATS. I almost felt guilty signing it!

New order on the way, full of lots of stamping goodness. Now to decide which set to focus on next! Such a horrible problem to have………

Online class revision…..

Recently I posted about an online class I’m doing. The cost is $35, but since it will be focusing on the Swirly Bird set, I decided I need to add a bit more variety. I posted just one design, but I want to add a couple more. We will still be doing this one (that I CASE’ed from Pinterest):

But I’m also going to add this one:

(CASEd from p100 of the catalogue)
And finally, this one:

The cost will cover the stamp set, ink, paper, and Dimensionals. You provide the scissors and adhesive! To keep it simple, we’ll keep the colors to a minimum. In the case that you’d like to change up the color, or add different colors to the mix, please visit my online store, KWCrafts, or email me at KWCraftiness to request your substitutions.

The following items will be included in the kit:

Swirly Bird photopolymer stamp set

Sweet Sugarplum Stampin’ pad

Dapper Denim stampin’ pad

Stampin’ Dimensionals

And pre-cut (A2 size) and prescored cardstock in the following colors:

Dapper Denim cardstock

Wisper White card stock

Sweet Sugarplum cardstock

And, finally, a yard of the following ribbon:

The middle of July, already?

Wowzers! Mid-July already?!?!? Where on earth has the time gone? I used to think my dad was crazy when he told me that “time goes faster the older you get.” But geez, he wasn’t kidding. My baby — who is 5, by the way — gets to go on her first field trip with day care this week. This mama is already a nervous wreck. Silly, yes, I know. My baby cousin is 3 weeks away from getting married to the loveliest, smart young lady. Seems like just last week that I was changing his diapers! Life just needs to slow down a bit so that I can truly enjoy it. It also needs to slow down a bit so that I’ve got some time to enjoy crafting a bit more!

I just finished 2, 5-card sets for a swap. Birthdays and Christmas. I can’t wait to see what the other ladies create. Here is my Christmas card:

I still haven’t built up a great supply of cardstock, so my options are generally pretty limited. But I like how they turned out! I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to make the Santa stand out and give it depth. I stamped the image with StazOn and then used my aquapainter to water color him. Wink of Stella on the fur trim and his belt buckle. The set is a retired one, but one of my absolute favorites, so I refuse to stop using it. I fussy cut around the outside of the image and used the Xacto knife to cut the inside.

I have definitely learned to buy the bundle whenever possible.

Tonight I’ll be (hopefully) creating a card for the Bride-to-Be’s bridal shower this weekend, and tomorrow is CASE It Tuesday in a group I’m in. Happiness truly is having the desire to create and a reason to do so. 😁

I’ll post pics of the bridal card once I’m done, and instructions for anyone who’s interested. And tomorrow I’ll post my CASE’ed card. Until then, happy stamping!

The swirl continues…….

To say that I am obsessed with the Swirly Bird bundle is a bit of a…………. Ummmmmmmm……….. Well, understatement is what comes to mind! Haha! This set is just so versatile. I have to admit, when I first saw it during the catalogue sneak peek for demos, I was completely underwhelmed. Who the heck would want a bunch of random swirls and a bird?? And then some fellow demos started posting the things they were making with their preordered sets. Stop the presses. I *had* to have it. In fact, it’s the only thing I’ve ordered, besides the In Colors, thus far. Trust me, it’s not from lack of desire! I want one of everything. Plain and simple. BUT, since I can’t have everything, I went for the one that gave me the most versatility. That is probably pretty obvious, considering 2/3 of my June posts were about this set.

So, yep, you guessed it…………. Here’s one more. I was challenged to CASE the card on page 100 of the current catalogue. The following is my take on that project. Feel free to comment and let me know what you think!

Pink Pirhouette, Pear Pizzazz, and Crumb Cake. With a little bird in Pool Party and some Wink of Stella on the eggs.

Happy stamping!

Online class? Yes, please!

Busy, busy, busy! That definitely seems to have become my mantra. So many of us have so much going on that its hard to get out of that routine we have going on. So, in that vein, I’m offering an online class this month instead of an “in person” class. How does this work? I will list the required materials below, and then once you’ve sent in your order for those materials, I’ll ship them to you along with detailed, written instructions on how to create the project, plus a video to your inbox for visual help. You can make the project at your leisure, as quickly or slowly as you’d like! And you don’t even have to wear shoes. Or street clothes for that matter. My favorite times to craft are early morning and late at night — before kids get up and after they go down for the night. So, without further ado, here is this month’s project!

What you’ll need:

Whisper White cardstock

Dapper Denim cardstock

Emerald Envy ink

DapperDenim ink

Swirly Bird photopolymer stampset

Acrylic blocks

Paper trimmer and scissors

Adhesive like Fast Fuse or Tombow.

Cost of kits is $35, and I will send them to you already scored, cut, and ready to go!

Go to my online store here if you’d like to change up the colors:
