My journey

However did I find Stampin’ Up? To be perfectly honest, it’s a bit of a mystery to me. I used to scrapbook. Fell in love with the creative outlet. Then comes life — full time job, house to run, husband, pets, and kids. The time for scrapbooking went out the window. I spent 8 years in a job I loathed. Working 50-60 hours a week. So, after my daughter was born, and my husband realized just how miserable I really was, he took on a 2nd part time job, and I began the career of being a stay at home mom. I babysat a few kids to supplement.

Enter large amounts of time at home and Pinterest. My husband swears Pinterest was the beginning of my “downfall.” It started tickling that part of my brain that craved creativity and making things. So I bought a Cricut & mainly used it just to make fun holiday and seasonal decorations for the house. Then I discovered cardmaking. And I realized that the Cricut is great, but it’s a bit cumbersome &, at times, labor intensive.

Going back to work — part time. At a craft store. And that literally marked my descension into madness.   All of the ideas. All of the supplies. I tried a little bit of everything. I made a couple of wreaths. Not my thing. I started drawing. Totally enjoyable, but I’m really not good at it. Then I discovered stamping. I could combine my love of card making with the ease of rubber stamps.

An online search for inexpensive, but high quality stamps, led me to a woman clearing out her Stampin’ Up! stockpile. All of that led to learning all I could about materials, embellishments, colors, etc. I’ve still got a long way to go, but I’m sure I’m going to thoroughly enjoy the journey.
